Arts Award - Discover in a Day for KS1 & 2
The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum
Dates: Free* visits available between March – July 2023
Cost: Free* to Coventry primary schools, spaces are limited. Booked on a first come, first served basis.
We are pleased to announce that with thanks to funding from Coventry Cultural Education Partnership, Culture Coventry Trust are able offer FREE Arts Award Discover in a Day workshops, for KS1 & 2 pupils to visit the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum and Coventry Transport Museum (usually charged at £7 per pupil). PLUS, the funding will cover travel costs for participating schools up to the value of £200 per day**.
Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification for children and young people and is managed by Trinity College London in association with Arts Council England. It offers a flexible framework for arts and cultural activities as well as providing motivation and recognition for young peoples’ achievements.
What’s included in Discover in a Day?
To achieve Arts Award Discover, children discover the arts around them, find out about artists and share their experiences with others, gaining a certificate at the end.
The museums will provide:
· Arts Award resources
· 90-minute facilitated art workshop at the Herbert
· 60-minute self-led activity at Coventry Transport Museum
· Assessment of work by trained advisers
· Arts Award Discover certificates for each pupil
· A transport bursary of up to £200*
