A recording studio with a sound desk, sofas and padded wallsSometimes, getting on the right career path starts with meeting the right person -someone who makes you curious, inspires you or believes in what you have to offer.  Our staff are keen to get to know you.  We want you to use your time with us to discover your strengths and start building a future you’re excited about.

Parents and carers can rest assured that we are all DBS-checked, professionally qualified staff with years of experience working with young people from all backgrounds. We will help you to gain confidence, develop new skills, and realise your potential.

Our centre is in a dedicated private part of the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum.  With a staff-to-learner ratio of 1:5, we make sure learners feel supported. Regular one-to-one meetings also help them take ownership of their learning and goals.  We work in partnership with schools and families to re-engage learners, build aspirations, and create positive experiences of education.

  • Prepare challenging young people for further education, the workplace or volunteering
  • Using creativity and cultural engagement to develop skills, confidence, experience and qualifications.
  • Offer a range of vocational courses to support positive next steps and portfolio building

How We Do It

We created a mini college within The Herbert Museum & Art Gallery.  We’re a smaller campus than a big college which enables easier transition from school to next steps. We recognize that neurodiverse people have great problem solving skills and are inspired by creative challenges. Creating opportunities for learners to be off site and independently interacting with new people, both neurotypical and neuro diverse, helps them see beyond their current school life.

Qualifications That Build Futures

Learners can work towards Level 1 Awards or Certificates in one of the following:

  • Employability & Development Skills
  • Working in the Digital Industries
  • Arts Award

Our first goal is always to re-integrate learners back into mainstream education. But if staying with us is the right fit, we can offer Level 2 qualifications to keep skills and confidence growing.

Looking ahead, we’re developing real work experience projects – with learners creating content to live briefs set by gallery staff. It’s not just about gaining qualifications; it’s about building skills, confidence, and pathways that feel real.
