AVANTI Feel Good Trips
Since 2023, the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum has been a key partner in the Avanti Feel Good Field Trips programme.
This programme was developed by Avanti West Coast as part of their mission to make rail travel accessible to school children across the UK. Working with museums and other heritage sights, Avanti transported children to a variety of venues, enabling young people from a diversity of backgrounds to experience cultural highlights of the nation.
Pupils came from far and wide to visit the Herbert where they were shown artworks from the collection and then created their own masterpieces in specialist art workshops using printmaking and sculpture techniques. The pupils were also treated to a meal and a drink at the café!
In January 2025, pupils, teachers and museum and heritage staff were invited to a celebration of the Avanti Feel Good Trips at the Houses of Parliament. Various dignitaries were there to heap well-deserved praise on the youngsters, and it was announced that Avanti had exceeded their target of 5,000 visits! The Herbert’s learning team were proud to be a part of this hugely successful venture.
