Coventry Timeline

Key Stages 1 & 2

75-minute facilitated session

Cost: £130 per class (up to 32 pupils)

This cross-curricular workshop is ideal for teachers who want to track the history of Coventry for their pupils through a chronological timeframe. Pupils will get to handle a genuine Warwickshire dinosaur fossil, discover how Coventry got its name, and learn about key local figures such as Lady Godiva, George Eliot and the Specials. The local industrial heritage will be explored as pupils learn about Coventry’s status as the world’s leading manufacturer of ribbon and watches. Pupils will also discover the events of the 1940 Blitz and can take cover in a real WW2 Anderson Shelter. Aspects of architecture, music and football will be explored, and teachers will be able to take photos of their pupils in various costumes through the ages as they role play episodes of Coventry’s history.

Teacher note:

  • This workshop is ideal for Key Stage 1 pupils and Years 3 & 4.
