Building Programmable Vehicles

Key Stage 2

50-minute facilitated session, in your school

Cost: 

One session costs £150

Two sessions costs £220

Three sessions costs £280


In this outreach session pupils will build programmable vehicles and learn how to give precise instructions to control it. Once they have pieced it together they will be challenged to develop automatic parking instructions for their vehicles.

Teacher note:

· This workshop is very hands-on and will require at least 2 members of staff to be present throughout.

Curriculum Links Learning Outcomes
Computing

· Design, write and debug programs that accomplish specific goals, including controlling or simulating physical systems

· Analyse problems in computational terms, and have repeated practical experience of writing computer programmes in order to solve such problems

· Use sequence and repetition in programmes

Design and Technology

· Understand and use electrical systems in their products

· Apply their understanding of computing to program, monitor and control their products.

· Develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently and to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world

Science

· Construct a simple series electrical circuit, identifying and naming its basic parts

· Using results to draw simple conclusions, make predictions for new values, suggest improvements and raise further questions
