Victorian Cycles

Key Stage 1

50-minute facilitated session, in your school

Cost:

One session costs £150

Two sessions costs £220

Three sessions costs £280

In this outreach session, pupils will explore the developments in bicycle history that happened in Coventry, learning about the Velocipede, Penny Farthing and the Rover Safety Cycle. Pupils will get to be hands on with a replica Penny Farthing and other handling items as we look at the changes in materials and technology in bicycles in the Victorian era.

Teacher note:

· This workshop is very hands-on and will require at least 2 members of staff to be present throughout

· Understand historical concepts such as similarity, difference and significance, and use them to make connections, draw contrasts and frame historically-valid questions
